Why do my gums bleed?
Are dental X-rays safe and necessary?
Yes, dental X-rays are considered safe and are an important diagnostic tool in dentistry. We use digital dental X-rays, which use very low levels of radiation. Protective lead aprons are used for additional safety as well.
Why are they necessary?
- They help detect cavities between teeth
- They reveal infections, bone loss, or gum disease that are not visible during a visual dental exam
- They allow early detection of issues before they become more serious or painful
- They help plan treatments such as dental fillings, root canal treatment, dental implants, etc.
