Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies rarely happen at a convenient time. Whether it’s sudden tooth pain, a broken tooth, or swelling that won’t go away, our dental office accepts same-day dental emergency appointments in most cases to help you get relief quickly and safely.

What Is a Dental Emergency?

A dental emergency is any oral health issue that requires prompt treatment to stop pain, control bleeding, or save a tooth. Common dental emergencies include:
  • Severe toothaches or sensitivity
  • Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth
  • Knocked-out teeth
  • Swollen gums or facial swelling
  • Abscesses or infections
  • Lost fillings, crowns, or dental restorations
If you’re unsure whether your situation is a dental emergency, it’s always better to call and have it evaluated. Acting quickly can often prevent more serious complications.

What to Do in a Dental Emergency

  • Call our office immediately for same-day availability.
  • For a knocked-out tooth, keep it moist (in milk or saliva) and bring it with you.
  • Use a cold compress to reduce swelling.
  • Avoid chewing on the affected area.
Quick action can make all the difference in saving your tooth and reducing complications.

Why Early Care Matters

Delaying treatment for a dental emergency can lead to:
  • Increased pain and discomfort
  • Spread of infection
  • More complex and costly dental procedures
  • Permanent damage or tooth loss
Early dental care allows us to diagnose the issue, relieve your pain, and begin treatment early, minimizing discomfort and preventing more costly dental treatments.

What to Expect During Your Visit

When you come in for a same-day emergency appointment, our priority is to get you out of pain as quickly as possible. Your visit typically includes:
  1. A focused exam and digital imaging (if needed)
  2. Diagnosis of the problem
  3. Immediate treatment or stabilization
  4. A clear plan for any follow-up care

Whenever possible, we aim to address the immediate problem during your visit and provide a clear plan for any additional treatment that may be needed.

If you’re in pain or think you may have a dental emergency, contact us right away. We’ll do everything we can to see you the same day.
